Yui Satonaka’s Retirement and Recent Resurfacing

There are many rumors in Japan surrounding Yui Satonaka’s sudden retirement from entertainment.

Yui Satonaka, who portrayed Hiyori Kusakabe in Kamen Rider Kabuto, retired shortly after the show’s finale. This was a surprise to many since actors usually obtain more roles and further their career after appearing in the Kamen Rider series. When the news broke out, many started to speculate the reasons behind her departure from acting.

Retirement

Satonaka had thoughts of retiring from acting during the middle of Kamen Rider Kabuto‘s run. In the Behind-the-Scenes footage of Kamen Rider Kabuto the Movie: God Speed Love, she was asked what kinds of roles she’d like to try. She dropped a line that hinted at her retirement: “if I continue to pursue acting…”

It’s possible that she was going through some kind of internal struggle.

In April 2006, she wrote this message on her (now deleted) blog:

Loneliness
I feel lonely, a helpless dread as if I am the only one who exists in this world.
My heart is empty as if it has been hollowed out.
No one needs me.
No one loves me.
I. Am alone.

Many speculated that she was going through some kind of break up at the time. And the person who broke up with her was Hiro Mizushima, the star of Kamen Rider Kabuto. But this is just a rumor, and there’s no way to verify the details.

What’s She Doing Now?

A couple of years after she retired, she appeared as a model in the September 2007 and December 2007 issue of the Latest Hair-Do Catalog. After her appearance in those magazines, she disappeared.

Until just a few years ago, when Sayaka Seragaki, one of her former C-ZONE idol-mates posted a photo with her.

In addition to that, it’s possible that she may have a child of her own now, as seen in Juri Hashimoto’s Instagram post (another former C-ZONE member).

While there’s no way of confirming that the person next to her is her child, it’s great to see that she’s happy.
