Mikiho Niwa reflects on Tensou Sentai Goseiger.
It was my first television audition and my office told me not to feel nervous so I went without knowing what it was about. I realized during the audition that it was for Super Sentai and I remember feeling overwhelmed by the number of people there. I could feel the tension in the air. The character Moune resembled me. We’re bright and straight-foward and we like taking charge. Because of that I was able to act very naturally. Also, since I have cheerleader experience, I got to choreograph the ending and hero show dances. I was very happy that the writers were able to utilize my personality as a person who likes to be in charge beyond just the story aspects of the show.
Also, the action scenes is one of the things I remember the most. My character wears shorts so whenever there’s an explosion or I have to do some movements, I’d get visible wounds when I got hurt. Also, I had to act like I was in pain. I’ve never had to perform those kinds of emotions before so it felt really weird seeing it on TV (laughs). I always feel depressed on set because I’d get yelled at often (laughs). I have been working since I was very young so people have always had to look after me. That’s why I saw the strictness on set as an opportunity to grow as an actress and as a person through Moune.
